Aerosol Therapy

Aerosol therapy consists in projecting into the airways a micro-mist of volatile substances, medicated or not.
Medicated aerosol is a prescribed treatment for:

• FLUIDIFY bronchial secretions.
• HUMIDIFY the respiratory tract or Bronchodilater.

The choice of aerosol type is made directly by the prescribing physician.

SOS MEDICAL technicians, trained in aerosol therapy techniques, intervene in the patient and install the equipment prescribed by the doctor.

There are several types of aerosols (or nebulizers), among the most used:

PNEUMATIC AEROSOL
The drug preparation is nebulized under the effect of a compressed gas.

ULTRASONIC AEROSOL
The drug preparation is nebulized under the effect of ultrasound.

The nebulizer consists of a tubing connecting it to the device and a nebulizer tank where the drug is poured. The patient interface is connected to it. This interface can be a mouthpiece, a bucco-nasal mask or nostrils.
